Centrally located on the North and South Carolina state line, our farm is truly in the “Heart of the Carolinas”. It has been designed to offers all the tools needed for you and your horse to become a more confident and well-rounded team.
Southern 8ths’ focus is on Eventing’s traditional long format – the ultimate test of horse and rider. With the help of a leading international course designer, our farm was built as a training facility. It is unique in that is not only includes a place to ride your Dressage test or jump a Show Jumping round, it includes a large Cross Country course, an “Intro to Eventing” course, a Steeplechase track and figure-8 and miles of measured roads and tacks to enhance your training experience.
Once a year, on the first weekend of May, Southern 8ths hosts the “Heart of the Carolinas Three-Day Event and Horse Trial”. It’s where amateur riders come to compete in the nation’s only Beginner Novice to Training traditional long format event. We are lucky enough to have some of the top professional riders graciously donate their time to enhance the learning experience. To quote several of our past competitors, “The Heart of the Carolinas event is like a top level clinic with competition thrown in” – it is a unique equestrian experience.
With its historic cemetery and whimsical wood carvings by noted carver, Randy Boni, it is a very special farm. Please join us in experiencing Southern equestrian hospitality at one of the finest facilities in the country.
