3-Day Event & Horse Trials

Southern 8ths will host the seventh annual Heart of the Carolinas Three-Day Event & Horse Trials, May 3-7, 2017.

This event is the country’s only venue where Beginner Novice, Novice and Training level riders can negotiate their ultimate test in a USEA recognized traditional long-format.

For 2017, we’re adding the brand new USEA Modified level horse trials and a Preliminary/Training level horse trials.

We are also pleased to welcome Chris Barnard as our new show jumping course designer, John Michael Durr as our new cross-country course designer, and Dylan Berry as our course builder.

The HOTC Three-Day grows every year. In 2015, we began offering Beginner Novice through Training Horse Trials in addition to the popular long-format divisions. In 2016, we added a derby style Preliminary Combined Test and the newly developed Beginner Novice Coaching Assistance Test (CAT), both of which will return for the 2017 edition.

Also in 2016, Heart of the Carolinas partnered with the Carolina Horse Park to develop a new eventing series called the Carolina Eventing Challenge and Heart of the Carolinas served as the series final. We are pleased to say that the Carolina Eventing Challenge will be offered again in 2017.

Looking to the future we hope to continue adding new divisions and providing the most fun and educational experience possible for all horses and riders.

See the Heart of the Carolinas Omnibus page for more information.
