The Heart of the Carolinas organizers host several activities at Southern 8ths Farm throughout the year as fundraisers to help cover the high costs of running a three-day event. Profits from any of the events listed on this page will go directly to supporting the May 1-5, 2019 Heart of the Carolinas Three-Day Event and Horse Trials.

Hunter Pace – October 6, 2018

Join us for the third annual Heart of the Carolinas Hunter Pace! Bring your friends and ride for up to two hours on our beautiful, groomed trails. All jumps optional.

HILLTOP: 220 meters/minute
ROCK & ROLL: 300 meters/minute

$40 per rider – REGISTER UPON ARRIVAL

Riders will be started on the trails from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on October 6.

  • Negative coggins and signed releases required.
  • Helmets required for hunter pace riders under 18 and strongly encouraged for hunter pace riders 18+. Helmets must be worn if you intend to jump fences along the trail.
  • Awards through sixth place to the teams that get closest to the optimum time for each level.
  • A “team” may consist of a single rider or multiple riders competing together. Awards will be mailed at the conclusion of the event.

The fall Hunter Pace is a big fundraiser for the Heart of the Carolinas 501c3 and all proceeds go towards supporting the May 1-5, 2019 Heart of the Carolinas Three-Day Event and Horse Trials at Southern 8ths.

Holly Hudspeth Eventing Clinic – October 6-7, 2018

Holly Hepp Hudspeth is a four-star event rider and Level IV ICP Certified Instructor based at Equiventure Farm in Rougemont, NC. She represented the USA at the 2003 Pan American Games and was short listed for both the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and 2010 World Equestrian Games. She has produced many horses and riders through the top levels including coaching the Area VIII Young Riders team from 2003-2010. Don’t miss this opportunity to school the private courses at Southern 8ths Farm. All levels through Preliminary welcome. Choice of cross country lessons one or both days!
